The Night

Sura 9221 versesRevelation order 9الليل

  1. بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

    In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

  2. وَالَّيلِ إِذا يَغشىٰ

    By the night as it covers.

  3. وَالنَّهارِ إِذا تَجَلّىٰ

    The day as it reveals.

  4. وَما خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنثىٰ

    And Him who created the male and the female.

  5. إِنَّ سَعيَكُم لَشَتّىٰ

    Your works are of various kinds.

  6. فَأَمّا مَن أَعطىٰ وَاتَّقىٰ

    As for him who gives to charity and maintains righteousness.

  7. وَصَدَّقَ بِالحُسنىٰ

    And upholds the scripture.

  8. فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِليُسرىٰ

    We will direct him towards happiness.

  9. وَأَمّا مَن بَخِلَ وَاستَغنىٰ

    But he who is stingy, though he is rich.

  10. وَكَذَّبَ بِالحُسنىٰ

    And disbelieves in the scripture.

  11. فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلعُسرىٰ

    We will direct him towards misery.

  12. وَما يُغنى عَنهُ مالُهُ إِذا تَرَدّىٰ

    His money cannot help him when he falls.

  13. إِنَّ عَلَينا لَلهُدىٰ

    We provide the guidance.

  14. وَإِنَّ لَنا لَلءاخِرَةَ وَالأولىٰ

    We control the Hereafter, as well as this life.

  15. فَأَنذَرتُكُم نارًا تَلَظّىٰ

    I have warned you about the blazing Hellfire.

  16. لا يَصلىٰها إِلَّا الأَشقَى

    None burns therein except the wicked.

  17. الَّذى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّىٰ

    Who disbelieves and turns away.

  18. وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الأَتقَى

    Avoiding it will be the righteous.

  19. الَّذى يُؤتى مالَهُ يَتَزَكّىٰ

    Who gives from his money to charity.
    2

  20. وَما لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُ مِن نِعمَةٍ تُجزىٰ

    Seeking nothing in return.
    2

    Subject indexReturn › seeking nothing inRewards › expect no

  21. إِلَّا ابتِغاءَ وَجهِ رَبِّهِ الأَعلىٰ

    Seeking only his Lord, the Most High.
    2

    Subject indexHigh, God isSeekers

  22. وَلَسَوفَ يَرضىٰ

    He will certainly attain salvation.
