The Sun
بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Mercifulوَالشَّمسِ وَضُحىٰها
By the sun and its brightness.4

وَالنَّهارِ إِذا جَلّىٰها
The day that reveals.2

وَالَّيلِ إِذا يَغشىٰها
The night that covers.3
وَالسَّماءِ وَما بَنىٰها
The sky and Him who built it.2

وَالأَرضِ وَما طَحىٰها
The earth and Him who sustains it.2

وَنَفسٍ وَما سَوّىٰها
The soul and Him who created it.2

فَأَلهَمَها فُجورَها وَتَقوىٰها
Then showed it what is evil and what is good.وَقَد خابَ مَن دَسّىٰها
Failing is one who neglects it.2

كَذَّبَت ثَمودُ بِطَغوىٰها
Thamoud's disbelief caused them to transgress.3

إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشقىٰها
They followed the worst among them.3

فَكَذَّبوهُ فَعَقَروها فَدَمدَمَ عَلَيهِم رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِم فَسَوّىٰها
They disbelieved him and slaughtered her. Their Lord then requited them for their sin and annihilated them.وَلا يَخافُ عُقبٰها
Yet, those who came after them remain heedless.3
